The Lake & Grounds

The cottages look east toward Moose Pond, a long, narrow lake in southwestern Maine. The section that the cottages occupy is about a half mile wide and over three miles long, so there's plenty of room for sailing.

The cottages face the lake across an unusually large, open lawn. There's plenty of room for badminton, croquet, horseshoes, bocce, and volleyball—all at once! This photo shows about a quarter of the total lawn area. Just out of sight to the left is sturdy playground equipment, for the swingset set.

(And take note: how many cottages come with their own lighthouse?)

The dock is a perfect launching spot for swimming, boating, fishing...

There's also a small sandy beach on the property—great for wading, and sailboats or canoes can run right to the shore.

The boathouse is one of Moose Trail's unique amenities. Cantilevered over the water, the deck's wraparound views make it a favorite hangout long into the night. Inside, it's one big open area with a fireplace, sofas, and ping-pong table—fun even on a rainy day.
